About the area
The mountain bike Mecca of Coed-y-Brenin forest is home to an ever increasing network of fantastic hand built all weather singletrack and even a dual slalom course. The technical roller coaster riding will have you grinning like a fool, with stunning mountain views of surrounding Snowdonia and the coast that'll take your breath away. Coed-y-Brenin is part of the Snowdonia National Park and the busy towns of Dolgellau and Bala are both nearby so there's plenty to do if you don't want to ride. The visitor centre at Coed-y-Brenin itself has an excellent cafe run by mountain bikers Sian and Dafydd as well as a shop offering walking / riding maps and other outdoor essentials.
The inspired technical trails found here are the result of years of work from the experienced and dedicated mountain bikers of the trail building crews and volunteer groups; mapping and clearing routes, digging foundations, pitching stone and barrowing thousands of tons of material. Carefully developed building techniques refined for each forest ensure that not only will the trail be the ride of a lifetime for true singletrack addicts, but it'll last a lifetime too. From the 12km fun route, the famous 'Red Bull' and 'MBR' trails through to the strenuous 38km technical singletrack of the 'Karrimor' loop, there's days of fantastic riding for everyone from families to the world-class racers who train here regularly.
